About Raipur Hatkeshwar Mahadev Temple
The Hatkeshwar Temple is in the state of Chhattisgarh. It is on the banks of the River Kharun. The temple is about 5 km away from the city of Raipur. The Hatkeshwar Temple is a place where Lord Shiva is worshipped. It’s a very important Hindu temple. In 1402, Hajiraj Naik built this temple. At that time, Brahmadeo Rai was in charge of this area. Temple History
In the 1400s, this area was ruled by Brahmadeo Rai of the Kalachuri Dynasty. He was King Ramachandra’s son. During his rule, Hajiraj Naik built this Shiva temple on the river Kharun. The people there think that the Shiva Linga inside the shrine came up from the ground on its own. The Shiva Linga is thought to have a lot of power. Mahadev Hatkeshwar is the god that the Nagar Brahmins honor as their ancestor. In the past, they used to live in Vadnagar.
Temple Architecture
The way the temple is built is very beautiful. The outside of the temple is decorated specially. Pictures of scenes from the Ramayana and the Mahabharata are on the temples’ outer walls. Besides this, there are also several pictures. The temple wall has carvings of different animals, dancers, and musicians. The complex of temples is very big. In the inner sanctum, there is a Shiva Linga. A big Shikhar flies high into the sky from the top of the sanctum. A huge wall with three round domes on top surrounds the temple. There are flat stretches between the domes.

In the month of Shravan, the Maha Shivratri is the most important holiday. During this time, people from all over Chhattisgarh visit the temple. People give the god milk, honey, bael leaves, flowers, and fruits. People think that god answers those who pray to him with a clear head. People think that god has a lot of power. Visitors believe that he will do what they want. The temple staff takes care of the people who come to see the god during the festival. The main idol is the big Shiva Linga in the middle of the room. The Shiva Linga, which formed itself, is worshipped with great devotion. Before giving anything to the god, worshippers wash in the river to clean themselves.
